Stone washing is having a huge moment in popularity right now! It’s all about texture and this technique adds a unique texture and feel ‘to the touch’ to a plain dyed coloured set of bedlinen. It’s not a new technique however when it comes to fabrics. The history of stone washing fabric traces back to the 1950s when Denim manufacturers sought ways to replicate the worn-in look of vintage jeans. Originally a manual process, it became mechanised in the 1970s and 1980s with the introduction of industrial washing machines. This innovation revolutionised the Denim industry and later extended to other fabrics like Cotton, Linen, and Organic Bamboo.
A fusion where innovation meets tradition, our Stone Washing process begins with sustainably sourced Organic Bamboo—known for its exceptional softness and breathability.

During the washing process, all natural stones such as pumice stones and volcanic rocks, are added to the washing machine along with the fabric. As the fabric tumbles with the stones, the abrasive action of the stones against the fabric's surface causes the fibres to soften and loosen. This process helps to achieve the desired texture and appearance, giving the fabric a unique, lived-in aesthetic that will continue to soften over time, all while maintaining the fabric's quality and sustainability.
The Stone Washing process enhances the already luxuriously soft texture of Organic Bamboo fabric, creating a gentle and soothing touch against the skin for ultimate comfort and a restful night's sleep.

Organic Bamboo is naturally breathable and temperature-regulating, making it ideal for bedlinen. The Stone Washing process preserves these properties of the Bamboo, allowing air to circulate and wicking away moisture, which leads to a cooler and more comfortable sleep during Summer, but also keeps you cosy and warm during the cooler months. Despite its delicate feel, Stone Washed Organic Bamboo bedlinens are incredibly durable. The process softens the fibres without compromising their strength, ensuring longevity wash after wash.
Stone Washing creates a subtle texture adding depth and character. We love the visual appeal of layering different textures together on a bed to create interest and Stone Washed bedlinens are absolutely perfect for this.

Organic Bamboo bedlinens are easy to care for, thanks to their natural antimicrobial properties. At Pure Zone, we highly recommend washing the Stone Washed Organic Bamboo Bedlinen on its own before use. We recommend a cool machine wash on a gentle cycle using a mild detergent dissolved prior to adding your bedlinen, and must not come in contact with the bedlinen. Remove from the washing machine immediately and line dry with fresh air in the shade, and fold when dry. Please ensure you avoid any bleaches, peroxide, self-tanners; this will ensure your bedlinens lasts for years to come.
