Beach time is upon us (yay!) and many of you have probably already spent a day or two by the water with your friends and family. This means it’s also time to start thinking about one of the ultimate Summer essentials – your beach towels!
Beach towels come in all different shapes, sizes, colours and materials. Here are some quick tips on what you should be looking for in beach towels this Summer and how to choose the best for you and your family.
1. Size
Nothing is quite as frustrating as setting up for a day by the sea only to find you can’t lay down without getting sandy! Make sure you check the size of the beach towels you’re buying so you can happily stretch out with enough space if that’s what you’re looking for. Some people live by “the bigger the better” and go extra large every time – others much prefer something compact and easier to carry.
2. Comfort
If you’re always in the water at the beach and need a towel for the sole use of getting dry, comfort might not be your top priority. However, if you’re much like us, your beach towel will be your accessory, blanket, picnic table, nap station and more when you’re by the ocean this Summer. Comfort is a key factor in this case, and you’ll want something soft and fluffy!

3. Weight
The one (and only, in our opinion!) downside of going extra big and extra fluffy is that it’s sure to add some kilos to your luggage. For trips in the car to easily accessible beaches this won’t be much of a problem. If you’re a lover of cliffside bays, however, bear in mind that you probably don’t want to carry the extra weight while you tackle all those steps in the sun. Here it might be smarter to go for a more lightweight option.
4. Absorbency
As a general rule natural materials are far more absorbent than synthetic, with 100% Bamboo fibre and 100% Cotton being top of the list. That being said, there are also synthetic Microfibre towels which are specifically designed to be super quick drying. 5. Cooling Feature
Just when you thought towels couldn’t get any more advanced… meet the Cooling Towel! This uses Core Technology to give you an instant cooling effect with the special structure of “sweat absorbency, circulation and evaporation”. It’s also anti-bacterial, anti-mite and static-free with a quick drying, breathable material. Perfect for withstanding the beach heat on extra sunny days, or if you like using the beach as a workout spot. 6. "Sand Free" Feature
We all love the sand between our toes, but sandy towels? Not so much. You may want to add a couple of these to your stock for a more comfortable beach experience this Summer, especially if you have children running around.
