With this new process, the colour is derived from different herbs, plants or vegetables to create specific colours which are all chemical free. This plant dyeing process originated back in early China, and involved four basic steps of Boil, Ferment, Isolation and Dyeing. As time moves on, the basic principles of this ancient practice along with modern technology, assists to achieve a superior result. You select the right herbs, plants or vegetables that have an excellent degree of good colour fastness (so colour is not lost through the washing process) and then extract the pigment to create a natural dye. The Pure Zone range of bed linen is made of 97% organic cotton and 3% silk. The organic cotton is 100% certified organic, grown and sourced ethically, with no chemicals used in the process. Silk is added to the process as it successfully absorbs plant colour derivatives. The plants are absorbed in water to create the colour. Once the water is coloured, the silk fabric is dipped to absorb the colour. The plant dyed silk is then woven into the organic cotton to create the finished fabric. The entire process uses no chemicals on the fabric, providing a hypo-allergenic and purely organic product to the end consumer.
